Many people can't believe it when we tell them that we delivered Megan on our own in the hospital. Here's what happened...I (Daryl) took Traci into hospital on Thursday 29th August so she could be induced the following day. We got to the hospital at about 7pm and settled Traci into her room on one of the anti-natal wards, eventual the nurse came round to check Traci's blood pressure and to listern to the babies heartbeat. The nurse than began to explain the inducement procedure and then told us that the labour ward was absolutely jam packed and they had no idea when we would be going down to be induced (typical NHS not having enough staff or beds!).
The following day, I can't remember what time, but it was after mum had told her boss at work (he happends to be Traci's consultant hehe) that nothing had happened and that there were no beds in the labour ward for us, we were told that we were going onto the labour ward to start the inducement (thanks mum :-) ).
We were escorted down from the anti-natal ward onto the labour ward by a midwife and shown to our room. Traci was then examined again and listerened to the babies heartbeat again, and as everything checked out ok the midwife gave Traci a pesceri (that wasn't a nice moment for me, watching someone else touching my Traci where only I should be allowed to). Anyway time ticked on and on and on and there still weren't any big signs of anything happening (by the way with Traci's other two children she didn't feel the contractions and was only in labour an hour with Jamie-Lee!), Traci was having mild contractions but they weren't painful or to uncomfortable and she was able to breath through them and sup her coffee at the same time.
Then suddenly things started to happen real quick, Traci was getting much stronger contractions and we called a midwife in to check her. The midwife checked Traci and said that she was 6cm dilated and that she still had a way to go (lol that's what she though). The contractions started to get stronger and Traci she said felt the need to push and that I should go and get a midwife, so I rushed out of the room to fetch someone and I returned quickly with a midwife how asked Traci a few questions and said that they will get a delivery room ready for us straight away. She off the midwife went, and the next contraction Traci screamed at me that the baby was coming so I ran out of the room screaming down the corridor that the baby was coming, but as I was going down the corridor I heard Traci cry that the head was out, I rushed back in the room to see the babies head out and as I got to the side of the bed there was a big gush of water and out came the baby! Moments later 4 or 5 midwifes came into the room to find me, Traci and Megan ( I guess midwifes are like buses, there aren't any around for ages and then they all come at once).
The labour was timed from the second stage of labour to delivery as 2 minutes and neither myself, Traci or the midwifes could believe it (that will teach them for not listening to Traci about her warnings of a quick labour!). And there was in my arms my very own little baby girl Megan Lily Hill, she was weighed straight away and as you can see in the pictures below she weighed 6lb 2oz.
